Our Team

Dann [Owner / Head Coach]

No newcomer to the coaching world, Dann is a 5th Dan former National Taekwondo athlete who left his competitive days to set up his own Taekwondo academy, his own outdoor workout company and upon being introduced to CrossFit in 2013, decided it wasn’t just all hype but a challenging and completely addictive form of working out. Setting up Crossfit Pahlawan is a natural progression for Dann to share his love for fitness to the masses (or at least the ones who want to attempt the unconventional).

Coach Dann loves his food as much as his workouts but would not trade anything for his beautiful wife and baby boy.

Tom [Coach / Program Director]

I have always had an affinity for the fitness industry having been active in sports since my school days.  After graduating with a Bachelor in Sports Science I worked as a fitness instructor in one of the big gyms in KL.  Being in a gym environment made working out easy and it wasn’t difficult maintaining my physique and fitness levels.  The challenge came when I left and joined as Coach of an outdoor fitness company.  I could still work out at a gym but I had less time and the frequency to do so.  Maintenance proved to be quite difficult.

Then Crossfit came into the picture.  I found the WODs to be right up my alley.  The intensity, the weights – a much needed shift in getting me back to where I wanted to be.  I am constantly pushing my boundaries and achieving PRs.  There has been no looking back since I started Crossfit 2 years ago.  Getting myself Level 1 certified was only but my first step in my commitment as I believe in continuously learning new things from CF workshops.  Bring on the WODs!

Coach Tom loves his ‘sup tulang’, his seafood and his football (not necessarily in that order)

Syauqi [Coach]

Being an active person since school days leads me to further my studies in Sport Science. It’s all in the name of interest and passion when it comes to sport. I am always curious and want to know more about what athletes eat, how they train and how they manage themselves in various types of sports.

My CrossFit journey began with Open Day at CrossFit Pahlawan. I became a CrossFit hardcore right after that with several years of experience in bodybuilding.

Credentials :

1) Bachelor in Sport Science, UiTM 2010 (Hons), majoring in coaching (Shah Alam, Malaysia)
2) CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) (Bangkok, Thailand)

Jenny [Coach]

I am a CrossFit Level 2 Trainer with 1,300+ hours of CrossFit coaching experience. Before moving to Malaysia, I helped start, manage, and coach the first CrossFit affiliate in Cambodia.

I began doing CrossFit in 2011 and love the self-confidence, positive energy, and personal responsibility that the “sport of fitness” promotes.  I have additional coaching and leadership experience from my time as a management consultant, Harvard Business School MBA, marching band drum major, and ice hockey team captain.

Outside the gym, Coach Jenny loves board games, hiking, science fiction, cashews, and ice hockey (which she played for 15 years).

Vinesh [Coach]

Being obese most of my life, fitness was just an admiration from far away. Started the fitness journey and tried almost everything, from running marathon, bootcamps, powerlifting, muay thai over the years and finally hooked up with Crossfit. Today, I am addicted to Crossfit and has never look back since then.

With its constantly varied movements and lots of new skills to learn, I am fully attached and amazed with how the learning curve in this sports has no ending and continuously evolving.

I got myself a Crossfit Level 1 Certified not only just to help others but also to grasp the understanding of Crossfit itself.

Credentials :
1.) Crossfit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) (Bangkok, Thailand)

Colin [Coach]

I have always enjoyed a varied sporting life having played basketball, football, whilst also dabbling in horse riding and golf.  However, I was never one to pay particular attention to my fitness levels.  When I got tired I’d just sit it out.  This attitude came back to haunt me when I found myself panting after climbing a flight of stairs.  I was overweight and completely out of shape.  I forced myself to join a fitness group and made drastic changes to my diet.  I achieved my goal of losing weight and gaining a decent level of fitness but it didn’t take long before boredom sank in.

That’s when CrossFit came along and the constantly varied movements coupled with the weights and the entire structure of the WOD programing made me take a deeper interest in the fitness world.  I got myself certified as a Level 1 trainer not just to coach but to gain a better insight into the whole CrossFit phenomenon.

Coach Colin still loves his food, his golf and especially enjoys helping others during their workouts

Credentials :

1) CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1). (Singapore)

Gareth [Coach]

Gareth has always been active in sports.  He holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Shotokan karate and took part in regional and international competitions on a regular basis.  His best individual performance was placing 3rd in Shotokan Karate held in Great Britain.  Besides karate, he was also into basketball and represented his university.  Coming from a sporting background it was only a matter of time before he would stumble across CrossFit.  Having become addicted to the workouts Gareth climbed aboard as Coach after getting his certification.  He’s happy to shed blood, sweat and tears during his WODs and coach others into shedding theirs!

Coach Gareth is really into health and fitness – and hopes to inspire others to achieve their fitness goals

By his own admission, Jem is a corporate slave by day and a beer loving, football watching, tattooed beast (the nice kind) by night.  He believes firmly that “you’ll never walk alone” and therefore CrossFit is the best platform to pursue your fitness goals with a box full of supporters.

Coach Jeremy is passionate about Liverpool FC, fitness and feels strongly that black is the best colour. Ever.

William [Coach/Rehab Specialist]

I am a self-proclaimed tech geek who also happens to love sports and fitness.  I don’t suffer from the conventional problem of being over-weight, instead I lean more to the other end of the spectrum.  I have always wanted to add some bulk and so I’m happy that I have the world of Crossfit to explore and help get me there.  I am a Computer Science graduate who found my way to an outdoor workout group session some years back and well, one thing led to another and I now find myself an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, a National Level 1 coach and most recently, an accredited Rehab Specialist.  Having started out on the “other side” and now being a coach I am especially inspired to see others progress and achieve their fitness goals.

Coach William has a not-so-secret love for McDonald’s (of all things!), cake and loves the colour red.

Credentials :

1) ACE Certified Personal Trainer
2) Certified Rehab Trainer
3) Level 1 Coaching Certification NSC (National Sports Council)
4) CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) (Singapore)
